Ashley George Among Nine Skyline Student-Athletes Tabbed ECAC Division III Metro Women's Soccer All-Stars
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference announced on Wednesday the 2011 ECAC Division III Metro Women's Soccer All-Stars. The College of New Jersey and Rowan University made strong runs in the NCAA tournament, and student-athletes from both programs are heavily featured among the all-star selections. Both programs placed five athletes on the first team. TCNJ's Brittany McGinley was named the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year in the region, and teammate Allison Foy was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year. Freshman Kaitlin King from Kean University was named the ECAC Rookie of the Year.
McGinley, a senior from Cranford (N.J.) High School, was also named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Year and selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America Third Team. Starting in 19 games, McGinley led the Lions in scoring with 14 goals and 28 points, and paced the team with four game-winning goals.
Foy, a junior from Hamilton, N.J. (Steinert HS), was named to the NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region Second Team and was also honored by the NJAC as the Defensive Player of the Year. Foy started 19 games and served as the leader of the Lions defense. With her help, TCNJ recorded 11 shutouts and allowed only 0.51 goals per game.
Kean's King was also named the NJAC Rookie of the Year. King started 13 games, appeared in 15, and recorded a 1.03 goals-against average as a promising goalkeeper. She also had three shutouts with a .806 save percentage.
